Yesterday was a good day in the life of this student nurse. One of my five lovely patients had altered mental status, was prone to swinging at caregivers and needed a new IV. Awesome. So of course, I had to go find the very lovely Nurse Kuzynski, RN, MSN to watch my technique. She makes me sweat. She makes me sweat bullets. However, I was lucky. Mr. Fiesty had just gotten a dose of Haldol 30 minutes prior to his IV blowout and he held still the whole time. It did take me two sticks to get a patent IV. Score one for me.
Let's just hope I don't fuck it up next week....

LOL! Props to you for your IV stick! I still haven't had any opportunities to do one, but I've got my ER day on 12/8, so hopefully I'll get some chances then...
woohoo for the IV stick... apparently doing IV's must super suck. I have seen the look on nurses when they have messed up on the ones I have needed, and they take turns pawning them off on each other.
Good job! I'm sure you'll keep it up :) Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier and for the prayers, I really appreciate them. :)
Good times! Your stuff is funny. Keep at it, you're a hoot!
